For over 30 years, St Kilda Eyecare has been part of the fabric of the St Kilda village.
What began in 1989 as a small store in the Woolworths Arcade – the vision of two young optometrists determined to build something independent and genuinely their own – has grown alongside the suburb it calls home, without ever losing its relaxed, personal, boutique feel.
In 1999, the practice moved to Acland Court, bringing a larger frame range and greater comfort for patients. After a decade there, it relocated to the entrance of Acland Court on bustling Acland Street itself. Then in 2018, we moved once again – this time across the road to our custom-designed home at 159 Acland Street, easy to spot under the iconic rocket awning.
Through every move, one thing has stayed constant: a commitment to thorough, unhurried clinical care, paired with an eye for interesting, individual frames that suit the character of St Kilda itself. We’ve long been early adopters of new contact lens technology, including specialist solutions for astigmatism and multifocal correction – and that focus on staying current continues today.
